Toys & Games:
More Than Amusement

Show ran from Feb 14, 2008 - Dec 31, 2008

The complexity and diversity of our amusements continues to progress rapidly. This unique exhibition will utilize toys and games as a lens to explore important social, cultural, political, economical, and environmental themes in our society. This exhibit is especially relevant because of recent press regarding toxic issues, studies emphasizing the importance of certain types of play, and how big business continues to promote war and violence and how issues of fear are affecting the youth of today. The exhibition will highlight how toys and game inspire us to have fun, learn, collaborate and follow our dreams.

Featured artists: Nat Ward, Olivia Robinson, Ryan Ferdinand, Shannon Arel, and the young artist groups led by team members Alison Nesbitt, Diana Coluntino, Jennifer Ehlert, and Jerry Beck.
