Mixed Media Installation

The Tower of Pigeons is an architectural form that has been designed and built specifically for raising Pigeons in Egypt. In the summer of 1906 during the British rule of Egypt, in a village called Denshwi, the British Soldiers were shooting pigeons, missed their target and the bullet went into a stack of wheat which caused a fire. The soldiers fled from the scene and one of them died of a heart attack while running. The British authorities believed that he was killed by Egyptian farmers. As a result of this event, they organized an immediate court and trial in the field, near the Towers, and gave the death penalty to four Egyptian farmers right on that spot. Many other Egyptian farmers were imprisoned. The Egyptians have built a museum in the same location and this commemorates that event.

The display of photographs and objects reflects an emotional response to contemporary events.
