Jerry Beck, Founder/Artistic Director
Jerry Beck, founder and Artistic Director of the Revolving Museum, is a nationally recognized artist, educator, and cultural leader dedicated to the use of creative vision, personal empowerment, and community celebration for social change. Beck has exhibited at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, Cambridge Multicultural Arts Center, the Rhode Island School of Design Museum, Artist Space in New York City, Snug Harbor Cultural Center, Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University, Mass MOCA, and numerous galleries and institutions across the nation. Beck has been an artist-in-residence, teacher, lecturer, and community arts advisor with many cultural and educational institutions, including the National Organization of Artist’s Spaces, New England Foundation for the Arts, Very Special Arts International, Maryland Institute College of Art, Harvard University, the Rhode Island School of Design, and Brown University, among others. Beck has received several grants and fellowships including, multiple National Endowment for the Arts grants, the Lila Wallace-Reader’s Digest Arts International grant, New England Foundation for the Arts Visible Republic grant, Pew Charitable Trust grant, and multiple Massachusetts Cultural Council grants. Beck has been published and reviewed in many well-known publications such as, The New York Times, Art in America, Art Forum, The San Francisco Chronicle, and The Boston Globe.

Vickie Hu Poirier, Executive Director
Ms. Poirier, an award-winning textile artist, earned a Bachelor’s degree in both Economics and General Business from New Mexico State University. She graduated in 2006 with distinction in Honors and as Outstanding Graduating Senior for the College of Business and Economics. She recently completed a Master’s degree in International Community Economic Development at Southern New Hampshire University. She spent seven months researching the Barli Development Institute for Rural Tribal Women in Indore, India for her Master’s degree as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar.

Her art work is in permanent collections around the world. She has exhibited her large scale hangings and quilts in shows across the U.S., the National Museum for Women in the Arts in Washington, DC, and the offices of United States Senator Jeff Bingaman and Congressman Joe Skeen, as well as in the Governor’s Gallery in Santa Fe during several administrations. At the invitation of the Consul General of Mexico, she had one-woman shows in Mexican Consulates in Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. Prior to her return to school, she organized arts-based, grass-roots, economic development projects in rural areas of New Mexico.
Diane Testa, Administrative Director
Diane Testa started as a volunteer at the Revolving Museum in the spring of 2004, and took the leap to full-time employee the following December as our Administrative Manager. Currently, Diane and her family live in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, but resided in the Seattle area from 1986 to 2003, where she served as the Administration Coordinator for the King County Public Art Program for eleven years. With this nationally-renowned, percent-for-art program, she gained extensive experience in arts management, coordinating public art project programming, development and maintenance. In addition to administrative work, Diane has a background as a studio artist, majoring in sculpture at the New York State College of Ceramics where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. Diane is excited to continue her career in arts management supporting a fun, grass-roots organization such as the Revolving Museum where everyone is welcome to experience the transformative power of art in everyday life.

Elaina Bates, Gallery Manager
Elaina Bates started as an intern at the Revolving Museum in the summer of 2005, and took the leap to full-time employee within two years as our Gallery Manager. She manages all aspects of the gallery, volunteer program and events calendar. In May 2007,Elaina graduated Magna Cum Laude from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, with a Double Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art and Ancient Greek. Elaina earned many Awards and Honors during her years at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, including being on the Dean’s List, and belonging to the Classics National Honor Society. In 2006, Elaina continued her Art studies abroad in Italy and Rome. Elaina is excited to continue her career in the Arts, by managing the gallery at The Revolving Museum.

 

Diana Coluntino , Youth Arts Program Coordinator
Diana has been involved with the Museum for over 10 years and is a talented educator, fashion designer, and sculptor. Currenlty she heads the Museum's Teen Arts Group, Artbotics Program and "8-Weeks" program. Previously she worked for 6 years as the Senior Designer, Production Manager, Pattern Maker, Marketing Stylist, Runway Show Organizer, and Merchandising Specialist for Bo Disenos in Venezuela. She has also worked in Visual Merchandising at Laura Ashley and is a Designer and Member of the Fashion Association of Boston. She received her BFA from Massachusetts College of Art in 1996 and was an honor student in Fashion Merchandising, Art History, Creative Fashion Design, and Sculptural Forms.



Alison Nesbitt, Education Program Coordinator (pictured in center)
Allison Nesbitt is one of the Revolving Museum’s most skilled, active, and inspired educators in the museum’s twenty-two year history. Alison is the primary teacher and curriculum development staff for The Visionary School and other after-school programs conducted in Lowell Public Schools. For over ten years Alison has conducted art-making workshops at many schools and social service agencies throughout the city. She is also been responsible for the development of the Museum’s Youth Arts Program curriculums that integrate both traditional frameworks requirements with authentic and experiential content. Alison is also an accomplished painter. Alison has a Certificate of Teaching from Salem State University.
